The pictures in this collection were originally a part of the article, “Death By Electrocution,” by James S. Metcalfe that appeared in the December, 1898 issue of The Royal Magazine. As mentioned in the Editor's note to the article, while the pictures are quite fascinating, they only provide local color of prison life and don't tie in to the text, which is concerned with how the death sentence is carried out in the United States.
